Hart Energy’s decision to name Kelcy Warren among the inaugural inductees of its Hall of Fame in 2023 was not a surprise to those who have watched him build Energy Transfer over nearly three decades. What began as a small natural gas pipeline company in East Texas grew under Warren’s direction into a national midstream operation handling multiple commodity streams across thousands of miles of infrastructure.
A Record Built on Long-Term Commitments
Warren co-founded Energy Transfer in 1996 with roughly 200 miles of pipeline. He has served as executive chairman and chairman of the board since then, guiding the company through rounds of acquisition and expansion that added crude oil, natural gas liquids, and refined product transport to its original natural gas operations. That sustained involvement over more than 45 years in energy places him in a relatively small group of executives whose careers span the modern midstream era.
The Hart Energy Hall of Fame, established as part of the organization’s 50th anniversary celebration, honored a class that included executives, wildcatters, geologists, and finance figures from across the oil and gas world. He also holds long-standing memberships in the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans and the Texas Business Hall of Fame, and was named a laureate in the Dallas Business Hall of Fame in 2020.
