Brandon Silverstein Makes Strategic Move with We The Band Signing
Entertainment executive Brandon Silverstein has secured We The Band for Avex Music Group, marking his first artist acquisition since becoming CEO of the Japanese-American entertainment venture. The group brings together Justin Bieber’s core musical collaborators: Harv, Tay James, Julian Michael, Devin “Stixx” Taylor and O’Neil Palmer.
Tay James represents the longest-standing connection to Bieber, having worked as his A&R and DJ since 2009. Harv’s relationship began in 2010 and reached new heights with “Peaches,” the chart-topping single he co-wrote and co-produced that became one of Bieber’s defining tracks.
The band expressed enthusiasm about their new venture. “This has been a dream of ours for many years now,” they said. “To create our own music that represents who we are as musicians with the support of a global powerhouse like Avex is incredibly exciting for all of us.”
Silverstein Builds Cross-Cultural Entertainment Empire
The signing reflects Silverstein’s broader ambitions for Avex Music Group, which he now leads following a March restructuring that consolidated Avex’s American operations under his direction. The deal included Avex’s purchase of his entire S10 Music Publishing catalog and expanded investment in S10 Management.
Silverstein’s approach emphasizes artist empowerment within a global framework. “Artists are some of the most incredible entrepreneurs, and they just need an infrastructure, the right infrastructure, to have their ideas prevail,” he explained.
His track record supports this philosophy. The combined publishing operation has generated massive streaming numbers, with recent radio chart success including Tate McRae’s “Greedy,” Doja Cat’s “Agora Hills” and Tommy Richman’s “Million Dollar Baby” all reaching top 20 positions on year-end rankings.
Avex Music Group operates as the American arm of Avex Inc., which reported $1 billion in global revenue for 2024. The company maintains offices worldwide and employs 1,500 people across entertainment, technology and media ventures.
We The Band is completing their debut project at Avex Studios in Los Angeles, with multiple guest appearances planned for the album. The release schedule targets late 2025, positioning the group to capitalize on their established fan base while exploring new creative directions under Silverstein’s guidance.
